Zleenk: Armenian educational app provides teenagers with opportunity to get high-quality
knowledge on modern topics

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS. In the 21st century there are many professions which schoolchildren have no idea about. Maybe, there is a need to include new subjects in the school curriculum? The founders of Zleenk educational app have found the solution.

Speaking to ARMENPRESS, the founders of the platform said that while studying abroad, they were thinking about how they can make the knowledge they gained outside Armenia available to Armenian children and teenagers.

Zleenk is an educational app for 13-18 years old Armenian schoolchildren, providing an opportunity to get high-quality and modern knowledge on their topics of interest which are not included in the school curriculum. In the app, schoolchildren interested in both arts and crafts and programming can find suitable educational content.

“When signing up, teens choose their interests, and we offer educational content based on that. The app first of all discovers hundreds of professions for a school children, helps and guides them to find their own path, then it gives knowledge, motivation and highly valued soft skills to become a successful professional”, Zleenk co-founder Kima Arakelyan said.

Co-founder and technical director Levon Avetisyan assured that app is the most convenient option for 13-18 years old children. They believe Generation Z (the generation that was born after 1995) couldn’t be found elsewhere. And they named the app in honor of the Generation Z.

“There have been 3 sections in the app – courses, meetings and contests. But now we have launched a new section – forums, which connects teens with the same interests and provides an opportunity to share knowledge and make friends”, Avetisyan said.

The courses consist of two parts. The first one is the professional orientation. Professionals present the essence, importance and prospects of their profession, show their daily routine and give advice. Here the users of the app will have an opportunity to get acquainted with professions which are not taught in schools.

The second part enables the users to watch video courses and develop their skills on various topics. Here schoolchildren can watch recorded lessons on business, floristics, journalism, blockchain, programming and on many other topics.

By joining live meetings the schoolchildren get knowledge from the best professionals in their respective field and ask them questions.

“By cooperating with various organizations, we are organizing contests, discovering and awarding the talented schoolchildren. For example, GG, ARloopa companies give interesting tasks to the users. After successfully completing those tasks, the users receive incentive gifts”, co-founder Diana Ghabuzyan said.

The app was launched on July 4 and already has more than 800 users. It is free of charge, providing an opportunity to integrate all children and teenagers who want to get new and modern knowledge. In order to cover the current expenses, the startup has organized a fundraising at “reArmenia” platform. In scope of this fundraising the following topics will be created: psychology lessons on the most common problems of teenagers at schools, programming, AR/VR technologies, 3D modeling, animations, floristics, pottery, handmade arts and crafts, confectionery, adobe tools, science, Armenian culture, business, soft skills, SMM, AI, blockchain technologies, etc.

“We have started the works from grants. We received a grant even from the High-Tech Ministry. We spent the ministry’s funding for the creation of the app. We have signed many cooperation contracts with different companies. We attach importance to the specialists, who work with children, to be the best”, Ghabuzyan said.

Propaganda is ruled out in the platform. The founders say they attach importance to pluralism, being confident that creativity is the key to development.

“Schoolchildren are a vulnerable group. We are responsible before parents for the content of the app”, Arakelyan said.

There are plans to further develop the app. At this moment the team needs more staffers. They plan to include also the Diaspora’s resource. In the future, there are plans to make the app multilingual and also to create its web version.
