Yerevan waiting for the first batch of Armenian POWs

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian side is waiting for the return of the first batch of prisoners of war and captives from Azerbaijan, Armenian Prime Minister's spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan said Monday, December 14.

Her comments came amid reports from Baku that the process of exchanging POWs and other detained persons has started.

After the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh, the sides agreed to the principle of "all in exchange for all", which means persons captured and detained before the war will be returned too.

According to some media reports, Azerbaijani saboteurs Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilham Askerov imprisoned in Karabakh for violating the border, killing a minor and a soldier and wounding a woman, have returned to Baku too.

Guliyev and Askerov were caught in summer 2014. A third saboteur, Hasan Hasanov, was killed, and his body was handed over to Baku.

When contacted by PanARMENIAN.Net Armenia representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross Zara Amatuni declined to comment. She said the ICRC has not participated in the process and called for contacting the Russian peacekeeping force in the region.
