AS Roma sending 117 boxes of aid to Armenia amid Karabakh fighting

PanARMENIAN.Net - AS Roma will be sending 117 boxes containing clothing and sports accessories to Armenia, amid ongoing hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, the club announced on Friday, October 9.

The Roma Cares Foundation has already delivered the packages to the Armenian Embassy in Italy, which will send them to the Roma Armenia Giallorossi Fan Club.

"Leaving aside any consideration of political nature, the Roma Cares Foundation is and will be close to Roma fans in need, regardless of where they are", said Roma CEO Guido Fienga.

"With this donation, we intend to provide first aid to children, women and men struggling in a situation of extreme difficulty."

The Italian club said they will be sending training shirts and shorts, tracksuits, sweatshirts, t-shirts and other clothing.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey, launched a large-scale offensive against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27, shelling Armenian positions and civilian settlements with large caliber weapons and rocket systems. Armenia and Karabakh have introduced martial law and total mobilization. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. International and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages, as well as the iconic Ghazanchetsots Cathedral in Shushi.

Donations can be made to Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, which has launched a fundraising campaign to support Karabakh amid Azerbaijan's aggression.
