Blinken welcomes initiative on Turkey-Armenia normalization

PanARMENIAN.Net - United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday, December 15 welcomed initiatives by Turkey and Armenia to start discussing steps to normalize relations.

“We welcome and strongly support statements by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and [the Armenian Foreign Ministry] on appointing Special Envoys to discuss the process of normalization,” Blinken said on Twitter.

Cavusoglu said Monday Ankara and Yerevan will appoint special envoys soon to discuss steps to normalize relations, as well as launch charter flights from Istanbul to Yerevan.

A spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry later welcomed the Turkish foreign minister’s announcement.
