YEREVAN. – Thursday is a historic day in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.

The parliament today will debate on the matter of the election of the fourth President of the country.

The sole candidate is Ambassador to UK Armen Sarkissian, who is nominated to this office by the ruling coalition government. The respective voting is slated for Friday.

The election of a new member of the Constitutional Court is also on the NA agenda for Thursday. The authorities have nominated former Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan for this position.

Eighteen matters are on the agenda of the current four-day session of the Armenian legislature.

And there are numerous bills that need to be passed in the second reading.
