YEREVAN, DECEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan declares that after assuming the post of Prime Minister in 2018, the issue of realizing the rights of citizens affected by the earthquake has been fundamental for him, ARMENPRESS reports Pashinyan said at parliament-Cabinet Q&A session.

"The first task I put forward was to present the list of persons to whom the state has an obligation in terms of eliminating the consequences of the earthquake disaster. As of today, the Republic of Armenia has fulfilled its obligation to all those citizens, except for 28 families, who themselves expressed their desire to have their issues resolved within the framework of the processes taking place within the framework of the construction of the Kapsi reservoir. In other words, de jure at this moment, Armenia has no obligation to any citizen in terms of eliminating the consequences of the 1988 earthquake," Pashinyan emphasized.

According to him, the development of Gyumri is hindered by shantytowns. The Prime Minister has set a task to completely rid the city of shacks, after which the government received letters that residents were victims of injustice years ago and continue to live in shacks.

"Responding to these letters, I gave an order to find out the circumstances of the citizens living in the shacks. It turned out, for example, that people live in shacks who have houses in the nearby village, so it is important to find out the legal relations of the state with the people living in the shacks," he said.
