Both athletes competed in the 102kg weight category. Gasparyan lifted a total of 390 kg above his head in snatch and clean and jerk competitions, while Martirosyan raised 380 kg overall. Karen Avagyan earlier won gold, Hakob Mkrtchyan and Andranik Karapetyan took bronze, while Rafik Harutyunyan secured a bronze medal in the clean and jerk event only. In the women's team, meanwhile, Liana Gyurjyan won bronze, Izabella Yaylyan won silver in the snatch event.
