Armenian pediatric patients at Yolyan Hematology Center join Spacesuit Art Project

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Pediatric patients at the R. Yolyan Hematology Center in Yerevan have joined the international Spacesuit Art Project. The event was sponsored by the City of Smiles Foundation, the charity organization chaired by PM Nikol Pashinyan’s spouse Anna Hakobyan. It took place as part of the Unistar Armenia festival.

Russian astronauts Andrey Babkin and Nikolay Tikhonov came to the hospital to visit the Armenian children and together they painted their dreams on special canvas which will be used to make a real spacesuit and will be taken to outer space. The spacesuit is called Dreamer. Children from Russia, Switzerland, France, Germany, the UK and Belgium have already painted on the spacesuit, and Armenia became the 7th country to join the initiative. Dreamer will take to space the dreams of children from 17 countries.

It will be flown into outer space in 2020.

The Space Suit Art Project was developed through the MD Anderson (USA) hospital’s Arts in Medicine Program, which helps pediatric patients cope with cancer treatment through art. The project then went international.
