"Check from whom the HHK (Republican Party of Armenia) youth elite consists of: those you have not served in the army, who have not fulfilled their military duty," said Gurgen Yeghiazaryan, former Deputy Head of the National Security Service. Speaking of the draft law on Military Service and Servicemen's Status, he mentioned that if the country's economic situation stabilized, there would be no political prisoners, and emigration would not be necessary. "Today our potential soldiers are in the USA, in Europe in order to earn money and keep their old parents." Gurgen Yeghiazaryan said that if the system were fair, those parents who do not want their sons to serve in the army would not have that opinion anymore. "Those parents, whose sons are to join the army, would not hear the anti-advertisement the cause of which is you. And parents would send their children to the army, thinking that there was equality." Turning to the party, he added: "Those, who have not fulfilled their military duties, do not have any right to have personnel advancement. They cannot become, for example, deputies, defense ministers, to become Poghos, Petros, or Martiros. They do have such moral rights, even if the country does not have a corresponding law."
