YEREVAN. – President of Lebanon Michel Aoun met with Armenian Parliament Speaker Ara Babloyan on Thursday.

Vice Speaker of the Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov, the representatives of parliamentary factions and members of the Armenian-Lebanese friendship group took part in the meeting, the press service of the parliament of Armenia reported.

Ara Babloyan expressed hope that the visit would promote the strengthening and deepening of bilateral relations. Eduard Sharmazanov evaluated Armenian-Lebanese political relations, driving their centuries-old friendship, historical ties and the significant role of the local Armenian community. Ara Babloyan highly appreciated Michel Aoun’s contribution to the stability, security and development of Lebanon.

Talking about the Armenian community of Lebanon, Ara Babloyan noted that they are devoted citizens of Lebanon and play a significant role in the political, economic, social and cultural life of the country.

Ara Babloyan noted the necessity of strengthening the Armenian-Lebanese inter-parliamentary ties and cooperation of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

According to Lebanese President, Lebanon is a country of cultural diversity, where people of different nationalities and faiths live side by side in harmony, respecting each other. Touching upon the regional issues, the President highlighted the provision of security and stability.
