Armenian Olympian gets candid about coveted medal win in Tokyo

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian boxer Hovhannes Bachkov, who won bronze in Tokyo just days earlier, has shared his impressions from his recent experience at the Olympics, now that he has been able to win a medal at every important boxing event.

"During many years, I was able to win medals from all possible tournaments for Armenia: from Europe, from the World, from the Olympic Games," Bachkov wrote on social media.

"I couldn't repeat Vladimir Yengibaryan's success in becoming an Olympic champion, but with this medal I became the only boxer in the history of Armenia to win medals in all major tournaments."

Bachkov believes the bronze medals has allowed him to set an example to younger generations of boxers and show them the right path.

"God willing, I will trying to score new victories for a long time."

At the Olympics this year, Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan and weightlifter Simon Martirosyan won a silver medal each, while gymnast Artur Davtyan took bronze.
