Azerbaijan violates Karabakh ceasefire, fires three SPG-9 shells

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire with Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in the southwestern section of the contact line on Monday, August 9, Karabakh defense authorities report.

Besides firearms, the Azeri forces used an SPG-9 to launch three shells on the Armenian positions in the area, the Defense Army added.

The Armenian side has no losses, and the Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed in the area since the end of hostilities in 2020 has been notified.

"The Command of the Artsakh Republic Defense Army calls on the Azerbaijani side to adhere to agreements and refrain from further steps aimed at escalating the situation," the Defense Army said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
