YEREVAN, DECEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. The Republic of Armenia is interested in the presence of the observation mission of international institutions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and welcomes the willingness of various EU member states to continue the mission on the Armenia-Azerbaijani border, ARMENPRESS reports the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan said during the parliament-Cabinet Q&A session, responding to the MP from the "Civil Contract" faction, Tatevik Gasparyan. The MP asked the Foreign Minister to give his assessment of the activity and role of the EU observation mission. The MP reminded that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France spoke about the extension of the mandate of the observation mission. In this regard, the MP asked what is the position of Armenia on this issue.

"The Republic of Armenia is interested in the presence of observation missions of international institutions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. If you remember, we applied to various organizations on this issue: CSTO, OSCE, EU. During this period, a mission from the OSCE also arrived and it has already ended. At the moment, the work of the EU observation mission is still ongoing, the period has not ended. It will end on December 19-20. I welcome the willingness of various EU member states to continue the mission and continue to maintain the presence on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border," said Mirzoyan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs strongly emphasized the evaluations of the EU observation mission in terms of further international processes. In his opinion, only the presence of neutral observers and the monitoring mission will have preventive significance for the further aggravation of the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

"That mission of the European Union played also such a role. Therefore, the Republic of Armenia can welcome the extension of this mission or the sending of a new observation mission," concluded Mirzoyan.
