Georgia joined the open skies policy ten years ago, while Armenia launched the process with a minor delay.
Time is required for Armenia to be prepared to revise the agreements. Armenia is ready to permit air transportation in diplomatic cooperation with aviation authorities, Sergey Avetisyan, Head of the Civil Aviation Department, told reporters on Thursday.
With respect to air ticket prices, Mr Avetisyan said:
“I think the results are tangible even now. But tickets are not cheap, and we have to do more. However, we can say the ticket prices are lower now.”
Armenia is now negotiating with a number of airlines. However, before entering the market, an airline should be well aware of the local demand.
“At present, Russia’s market is and will remain the greatest market for us in terms of both departures and arrivals,” Mr Avetisyan said.
