Legendary Amadinda Percussion Group will perform an exclusive concert in Armenia on the sidelines of the 20th jubilee edition of the Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival.
The event is scheduled for 19 June at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in capital Yerevan, the festival's press service told Panorama.am.
The concert program features Orlando Gibbons, Steve Reich, John Cage, Elliot Cole, Aurel Hollo-Zoltan Vaczi and Otea (traditional music from Tahiti).
Legendary British vocal group The Swingles opened the Yerevan music festival on 29 April, followed by a recital of world-famous pianist Ivo Pogorelich and the first performance of Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet in Armenia on 28 May.
The Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival is being held under the auspices of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and with support of My Step foundation.
Amadinda Percussion Group was formed in 1984 in Budapest, Hungary by four musicians who had just graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. Right from the start, besides performing significant pieces from the classical percussion repertoire, Amadinda has made it a point to inspire composers to create new works. Included among those who have dedicated a new piece for them, are three of the greatest names of the second half of the XXth century: John Cage, György Ligeti and Steve Reich.
