Former MP and head of the Bright Armenia Party Edmon Marukyan on Friday outlined the steps the parliamentary opposition of Armenia should take in the current situation.
"What should the Armenian parliamentary opposition do now? Taking into account that Armenia is a parliamentary republic, I urge the opposition factions to draft a joint statement of the National Assembly,” he wrote on Facebook.
“The statement would clearly state the following:
- Pursuant to Article 88 of the Constitution of Armenia, the National Assembly is the people's representative body.
- According to Part 1 of Article 105, the parliamentary factions contribute to the formation of the political will of the National Assembly.
- Armenia excludes the provision of a sovereign corridor to Azerbaijan or any other country.
- Armenia is in favor of the lifting of the three-decade-long blockade imposed by Azerbaijan and Turkey and the opening of roads and communications.
