Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan has stated he had informed Pope Francis that the Armenian issue is a highly sensitive topic in Turkey. Erdogan's remarks came at a meeting with members of his ruling Justice and Development (AK) party, where the president spoke of his recent visit to Vatican and the meeting with the Pope.
To note, Erdogan was the first Turkish president who visited the Vatican in nearly 60 years. During the meeting behind closed doors on Monday, the parties discussed the situation in Syria as well as refugees in the Middle East and the Trump administration's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
