PM briefs Cabinet on numerous Davos meetings, expects economic results from positive political atmosphere

PM Nikol Pashinyan has chaired a consultation at his office with Cabinet members in charge of the country’s economic sector, the PM’s office said.

Pashinyan first briefed the Cabinet on the discussions with international partners at the Davos World Economic Forum, noting that a positive atmosphere is developed around Armenia from a political perspective, which must be succeeded in utilizing for having concrete results from an economic perspective.

The consultation also addressed the process of investment projects in various sectors.

“I would like to say in Davos we had meetings with representatives of a number of international partners, corporations and companies, during which agreements were reached. It is important for these agreements to gain momentum”, he said.

In particular, the PM said that during a meeting with the Marriott CEO, it was reaffirmed that the company will open another hotel in Yerevan in 2019. He said that Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will send a delegation to Armenia to discuss investment opportunities and also assistance.

“With representatives of eBay we discussed the problems which Armenian citizens are having while shopping at eBay. We agreed that they will discuss this issue and we will find solutions. With VTB Bank, as you know, we are working for reaching a resolution of the situation over Teghut. We reached an agreement with the Polish prime minister that the economy ministers of both countries will work and try to identify the concrete sectors where Polish investments can be useful. We had a consultation with the deputy prime minister of Singapore, which is connected with, particularly air transportation. There is a preliminary agreement that the Singaporean government will provide assistance for the restoration of the Yerevan Botanical Garden, because as you know there is a world famous botanical garden in Singapore.
