Former president of Haiti, Rene Preval died at the age of 74, Reuters reported.
Preval became the first leader in the 202-year history of the country to win a democratic election, serve a full term and peacefully hand power to a successor.
He was an agronomist. For the first time Preval won the presidency in 1996 , after a bout of instability that saw his ally, former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, toppled in a coup, then brought back to power with the help of U.S. troops.
