
The recent tensions on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan border are resulted by Aliyev’s domestic policies, says Shahin Mirzoyev, an activist and member of Azerbaijan’s ethnic Talysh minority, who fled Azerbaijan and was granted political asylum by the Armenian authorities.
“It is well known that Aliyev appointed his wife [Mehriban] as first vice-president and Minister of Internal Affairs appointed his son as his deputy, which caused public outcry. They aggravated the situation to silence their people,” he said.
Mirzoyev understands the Talysh families who have remained in Azerbaijan despite their great desire to leave the country.
