Russia is following attentively and respects every legitimate election in Armenia, Konstantin Zatulin, the head of Russian Duma Committee for CIS, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, said during his press conference on April 28.
“We know how elections should be held in accordance with the Constitution and we hope that it will be so,” Zatulin said. According to him, Russia cannot remain indifferent towards the developments in Armenia. “We do not intend to anyhow interfere in this matter, who is good, who is bad, it is not our function and it does not match our role. We worry that in Russia’s ally country, a country with which we are connected by the Collective Security Treaty, where we are the main investor, where our servicemen are stationed, in a country where serious developments are underway for over a week.”
“We are worried and we have arrived in Armenia,” Zatulin said.
The members of the delegation met with the spokesperson for the National Assembly Ara Babloyan.
