Armenian PM delivers opening remarks at EEU session, highlights creation of single financial market

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in the regular session of the Eurasian Inter-governmental Council on August 9 in Kyrgyzstan.

The session is being held at Cholpon-Ata, a town in the Issyk-Kul Oblast.

Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev welcomed the heads of government of the EEU member states at the Aytmatov Ruh Orda Cultural Center, the venue where the session is held.

Narrow and expanded format meetings were held afterwards.

Since Armenia is currently presiding in the EEU, PM Pashinyan delivered opening remarks.

He thanked his Kyrgyz counterpart for the warm reception and hospitality and the high level organization of the session.

“At the narrow format meeting we’ve already exchanged ideas and decided the conceptual issues concerning today’s agenda. Nevertheless, I would like to draw your attention on certain aspects of the issues which we discussed and which are of important significance for our countries. In terms of the regulation of the alcohol market I find it necessary to note that members of the Union are generally in favor of eliminating the obstacles in this sector. This is a primary direction for Armenia and it has broad export opportunities in the Eurasian Economic Union markets.

We find the final decision-making regarding the distribution of imports customs duties between the budgets of member states of the EEU to be important. This issue is being discussed already for a long time in our organizations, and it is necessary to solve it as soon as possible.
