Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Friday met with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres, in New York City.
First, Nalbandian congratulated Guterres on his election as the UN Secretary-General, and wished him success in this important mission. Also, the FM conveyed to Guterres the greetings and good wishes by the President of Armenia, and, on his behalf, invited the new UN Secretary-General for a visit to Armenia.
António Guterres, for his part, assured that, as the UN Secretary-General, he intends to have productive cooperation with Armenia. He recorded that, over the course of the 25 years of its UN membership, Armenia has actively participated in the work being carried out within the framework of the UN.
The FM, in turn, assured that Armenia will continue its constructive engagement and active work along the lines of the UN. Also, Edward Nalbandian presented to the UN Secretary-General the initiatives by Armenia towards the prevention of genocides and other crimes against humanity.
