Two members of the Bar Association of Armenia, known as the Chamber of Advocates, are suspected in stealing 7000 dollars from an imprisoned convicted criminal, the National Security Service (NSS) said.
The two lawyers were providing legal services to the convict in a correctional facility.
According to the NSS the two lawyers exploited their client’s trust and suggested them to give a 7000 dollar bribe which they would forward to a ranking official in the judiciary to parole the convict.
The convict eventually gave the money to the lawyers, who in turn stole it. 6800 dollars of the original sum was found in one of the lawyers’ home during a search, the NSS said.
