The American press and international agencies informed that in the past few days three leaders of Russian intelligence agencies visited the United States: Sergey Narishkin, the head of External Intelligence, Alexander Bortnikov, the head of Federal Security Service, Igor Krobov, the head of intelligence department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
Russia has officially confirmed only Narishkin’s visit at the level of its ambassador, saying that there was a discussion on fight against terrorism.
The visits of high-ranking officials of Russian special services have drawn interest in the context of publication of the Kremlin list which includes Narishkin and Bortnikov.
It is practically impossible to find out what discussions took place between the special intelligence services in the Russian-American format. However, the fact itself is symptomatic and the heads of special services would not go to the United States for a fight.
On the other hand, despite the strong confrontation between two countries, the presence of such episodes of cooperation may seem strange only at first sight. At least, it is true about two core subjects of international responsibility which cooperate very close to us, over the Artsakh issue and in the OSCE Minsk Group.
After all, it is a matter of confrontation and fortunately not craziness that may end up in disaster, including in the Artsakh issue. Meanwhile, currently one can notice the influence of the Russian-American cooperation in terms of steps towards increasing stability and the level of manageability of relative stability.
