Armenian government lacked an efficient negotiator with Russia, Boris Navasardyan says

“The change of Armenia’s prime minister is conditioned with numerous factors, yet I would stress the crisis in the Armenian economy, and the debts Armenia owns to Russia. I think Armenia is under pressure because of that,” Boris Navasardyan, Chairman of Yerevan Press Club told a press conference.

To Navasardyan’s words, Moscow is frustrated with Armenia and its leadership and the demands to pay the debts, for example for the consumed gas, come to voice that dissatisfaction and put the matter straightly.

Navasardyan said the Armenian government had to appoint an efficient negotiator to smooth the pressure.

“Karen Karapetyan appeared to be the most suitable candidate, considering the fact he enjoys certain trust in Russia and namely in the Gazprom system,” suggested Navasardyan.

He next underlined that Russian pressure is not of merely economic but also political nature, recalling political scientist Stepan Grigoryan’s deportation from Moscow.
